On this episode of the podcast, we interview indie artist Billy Edwards of the band Emo Empire, after a brief discussion of H.R. 4706 (The Music Modernization Act). Billy talks about his philosophy of music and life and we hear some of his music. The Music Modernization Act was introduced in Congress on December 21, 2017 with 35 Democratic co-sponsors and and 33 Republican co-sponsors. The bill just passed the House Judiciary committee unanimously on April 11 and will eventually be debated and voted on by the full house at a later date. The bill seeks to update how music rates are set and how songwriters and artists are paid. A synopsis of the bill can be found HERE and if you are interested in reading the full text of the bill, it can be found HERE.
